Genus:
Aspergillus
Species:
restrictus
Distribution:
Found widely distributed in the soil and air.
Substrate:
Found in soil.
Dispersal:
Conidia or chains of conidia easily become airborne and are dispersed by wind.
Indoor Occurance:
Isolated primarily from floor, carpet, mattress and furniture upholstery dust. Isolates have also been identified from indoor air conditioning systems and grain foods.
Notes On Identification:
Not distinctive on spore trap samples. Species identification requires mycological examination of sporulating cultures or molecular methods. This is a xerophilic fungus and maybe overlooked on MEA plates. DG-18 is better for recovery of this species.
