A. parasiticus is more commonly a food associated fungus. Occurrences of this fungus have also been reported from the soil.
Substrate: 
Occurs mainly in cereals, nuts, and soil.
Dispersal: 
Conidia or chains of conidia easily become airborne and are dispersed by wind.
Indoor Occurance: 
Indoor occurrence of this fungi is mainly associated with food. Food sources like cereal grains and nuts are sites for this contaminant.
Secondary Metabolite: 
Important toxic metabolites of this fungus are kojic acid, aspergillic acid, aflatoxin B1 B2, G1 and G2.
Notes On Identification: 
Not distinctive on spore trap samples. Genus can be identified on surface or bulk samples if the entire sporulating structure is present. Species identification requires mycological examination of aporulating cultures or molecular methods.
