Worldwide distribution. This fungus is predominantly found indoors and associated with food.
Substrate: 
Common occurrences are on plant materials and in soils. Isolated from air, soil, textiles, foodstuffs, seeds, crops, etc. (From Samson et al., 2000)
Indoor Occurance: 
Common in indoor environments. Isolates of this species have been identified from wet building materials, floor and carpet dust, acrylic wall paint, wall papers and also food products like bakery products and cereals.
Allergenicity: 
Allergenic.
Notes On Identification: 
Not distinctive on spore trap samples. Can be identified on surface sample if sporulating structure present.
