Distribution:
World wide in distribution although predominantly found in temperate regions.
Substrate:
This fungus thrives as a saprophyte on dead or dying plant substrates and other organic matter. Isolated from air, soil, foodstuffs, stored fruit, cereal grains, groundnuts, paint, textiles, etc. (From Samson, 2000).
Indoor Occurance:
Found rarely in indoor environments. Some occurrences have been found from carpet and mattress dust, wall paper, air conditioning insulation material and fan etc. Also isolated from food products like cereal grains.
Allergenicity:
Allergenic (Day 1996)
Notes On Identification:
Not distinctive on spore trap samples. Can be identified on surface sample if sporulating structure present.

Mycosphaerella tassiana (de Not.) Johanson
